| | Revelation: How did the Early Church use the Apocalypse?
|
How did the Early Church use the Apocalypse which is the book of Revelation? There were varied uses of it, but for the most part, the use was quite meager.
The early church had not yet matured its theological understanding. It was in 325 when they began to more fully explain that Jesus Christ was fully God and fully man. They hadn't matured their understanding of Scripture and it was very difficult to write a commentary on a book that had not yet occurred.
What is the purpose of the Book?
Why is the Book of Revelation so difficult to understand?
What episodes in history may illustrate the impact of this Book upon man and society?
