Tea Partiers, Ted Nugent….You Have Missed The Point
by Robert Gamble
July 5, 2010

With all the fireworks celebrations, the piles of food, chips, watermelon and all that goes with party celebrations I feel that America for the most part has missed the point, even the Tea Partiers, have missed the point.  We have missed the point of first why the forefathers of the Revolution resisted, and how they came to resist.

We have relegated the 4th of July almost in the same corner as Turkey Day, I mean Thanksgiving Day….again totally missing the point.

During Church yesterday we had a great commentary on Prophets, and their roles in society.  What struck me about this commentary was the single most poignant thought through it all…derived authority.  We all have derived authority; meaning we get our very being imputed to us by God; we in return have a representative capacity as human beings of God; and because we fall short we need to be bought back so that the image can be restored.  All human beings must represent God, else they are under his wrath and curse.

The Prophets role was to show we were falling short, and to give the way of salvation.

I have heard many discourse on the role of the prophet as being a “divine lawsuit”, I would agree with that.  The formalization of complaints and judicial process is vital for our salvation.  God is all about judicial process, and judicial proceedings.  The Prophet was and is a representative of God to bring the word of the King to the people.  But the word was in a form of  “judicial proclamation.”

As a side note, where is the prophet today? The prophet and prophetesses of the Old Testament became part of the Church Corporate today.  The remnant, the true Church that exists within the “Visible Church” has a voice that  rings out.  This combined voice is the prophetic voice to the nations.  No one man has a prophetic office.  Also, as per Deut. 13 the marks of the prophet are resident in the corporate Church, not any individual.  There is much, much, much more to be said on the prophetic office…but the goal of this discussion is not mental semantics over prophetic offices today so much as the “message of the prophet.”

In God’s economy there is a hierarchy to sin.  There is a value, or impact value placed on the severity of sin.  For example, in Leviticus 4 there is a listing of the sinning entity and the sacrifice required:

Priest Levite: Young Bullock
Whole Congregation: Young Bullock
Ruler: Young Male Goat
Individual : Young Female Goat

If you have studied Hebrew culture you would understand that there is a value break down here.  The young bullock was a large investment; in our vernacular equivalent to a large tractor.  A young male goat had less value in my opinion than a female goat, because it had less abilities to reproduce.

So in essence the Truth bearers (Levites) had the greatest responsibility to society and could steer society awry, more so than a Ruler.  However, the individual in God’s eyes had more culpability than a Ruler.

Why is that?  Because who we have above us, is a mirror of what we are.  More to the point, the ruler, is not above reproach, is not above the law, the ruler is NOT the law…the ruler is a representative of the law and if he is misrepresenting it, he must make repent like everyone else.

The playing field of society is laid out in Leviticus chapter 4.  The Churches have the highest blood culpability for how the society is steering.  The corporate nation as a whole has equal culpability, and the Chiefs of state are merely doing what they are allowed to do and taught to do.

As the proverb says:

Pro 14:28  In the multitude of people is the king's honour: but in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.

In short hand “The prince has power because of the people below him.”  Even Machiavelli understood that principle in his Treatise, “The Prince.”  His book is all about manipulation of public opinion so that it favors the prince as being the savior.

When a civilization is in rebellion against the Lord its singular characteristic is that it is top heavy with power.  The people are burdened with labor, or have been sold into bondage.  The labor is not their own, but someone else’s…there is no light at the end of the tunnel; the burden will never be relieved.

To get a civilization back on track the first thing to be addressed is the Church.  The second thing is that the people must repent, and thirdly a manifestation of their repentance is resultant in a dramatic change in their cultural surroundings, the magistrate is one of those entities.

The Civil Magistrate is, not just one of those entities, it is a high place that must be taken down and replaced.  When Gideon went after the idols, he was not just knocking over some wood and stone edifices, he as going after the rulers of the day.  He was saying “You are on God’s land, and are violating His Law…get off!”

In the beginning of the article I said “The Tea Partiers Missed The Point.” And  I meant it.

What most do not know, and are not taught in the Public Schools, is that there was a Great Awakening before the Revolutionary War.  All Historians will agree that the Great Awakening had a measure of influence on the Revolutionary War.  Unfortunately it is left at that.

Why a Great Awakening in the first place.  “Sinners in The Hands of An Angry God” by Jonathan Edwards, was not just some call to personal salvation, on the contrary it was a call to repentance.  The Colonies had been ransacked years earlier by Indians in the King Philip’s War for a similar transgression.

What am I driving at?  The people had fallen into sin.  The people prior to the King Philip’s War were departing from the faith and had forgone going to Church altogether.  The people we in great danger of becoming an apostate, pagan nation.  God stopped that with a raining of curse.  Similarly, prior to the Great Awakening there had been a cultural lapse in Christianity, a falling away.  The Great Awakening had pulled them back and made them realize that the Curse of British was put upon them for their rebellion.

The sermons of the era ring out in clear tones that “We have sinned: the curse is upon us for our rebellion.”  We deserve this curse….Lord forgive our sins….heal our land.

As Duet 28 spells out in specific details “cursed shall be thy basket and they store, cursed shall be thy cattle, thy children, thy field…” Life was turning into death, a continual grinding death without relief.  Why?

Deu 28:15  But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:

The Tea Partiers are all about Awakening to “rot” in the Political Machinery.  It is as if voting in “replacements” is going to be our next savior.  They are right about government spending…but I wonder how many want that giving hand of the government chopped off.

It does not matter who gives…you are still servant to the lender.  The Laws of Economics still stand even if the Keynsians say otherwise.  Stop taking hand outs…
God is spoken of as a magical Rosery Bead.  “If I say God Bless America enough times the God will shower blessing upon us.”  God is not going to bless a nation that has “rot” at the root.

The Cultural Rot is that we have rejected God’s Laws as the foundation for all of OUR laws. That’s right, our laws too are not free to be what ever we want, they are representative of God and His character.  We must go to our foundation before making laws about handing out money, erecting the next public building, funding the public schools, erecting another University with state monies….

Laws are sacred, not the King.  The King is but fallible, but God’s law is the Truth (Psalm 119:142)

Before Honor comes Humility, and that is where we are as a Nation.  We want honor without being humbled to repentance.  We want the glory of the fireworks, the great festive afternoons under the bright sun light…but we do not want the bitter truth of repentance, restructuring of our lives, rebuilding our Churches, abandoning a dead-Christianity (idolatry),  and turning to the truth, to God’s Laws are foundational to our ethic and out Culture.

As the Prophets inveighed against the King, so must we.  King Ahab should be no longer safe taking over Naboth’s vineyards.  Eminent domain has to stop.  The massive multiplying of cooks, and horses has to stop (Duet 17:14-20).  The Kings of the land must be called into account: they too must study God’s Law and make a copy for themselves (Duet 17:18&19)…and caused to walk softly through out the land and stop being the power mongering beasts that they are.

The Tea Partiers should be saying as Daniel of old :

Dan 9:3  And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said,

O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;  We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments:  Neither have we hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which spake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.

I would suggest you read the rest of the chapter.  Interestingly enough, Ezra has a similar prayer…”to us belongeth confusion of face.”

That is where we are America.  We are awakening, but it needs to go deeper, much deeper.  Churches, you have an America that is ripe unto harvest…but you are preaching a “personal Jesus” versus a “King Jesus of the Nations.”

The myth of Separation of Church and State has to come down.

God Bless America….when she repents.   May the Zeal of the Lord of Hosts drive us towards repentance…without more curse!

As the Colonists said during the Revolutionary Era:

“The War Might Be Theirs, But The Sins Are Ours”
